If your weight is around 200lbs, then this model supports your running training well. If your weight is around 200lbs, then this model supports your running training well.
It is a good idea to choose a machine with a higher motor power if your weight is beyond 200lbs to guarantee the longevity of the motor
Proform Pro 2000 Specs
The machine has a powerful 3.5 CHP commercial self-cooling motor. ProForm guarantees that this motor will support all the miles you decide to run and they back up their promise with a lifetime warranty.
The step-up height from the floor is 10.25”.
The large 2.5” non-flex rollers are designed to decrease the tension and to deliver a smooth and quiet running motion. On the downside, however, the tread belt thickness is only one- ply.
The machine’s ProShocks Cushioning provides you with a comfortable walk, jog or run. The tread belt cushioning helps to protect your joints and reduces the recovery time in between the workout sessions.
With the powerful 3.5 CHP motor, this treadmill can achieve speeds of up to 12mph, and QuickSpeed control buttons let you change your intensity instantly.
The Pro 2000 offers you an automatic incline of 0-15% and 0-3% decline, both with instant adjustability.
While the automatic incline is a common feature of most treadmills in this price range, the decline feature adds “real-world” experience to your workout and provides you with the full range of an outdoor training.
The manufacturer has embedded your treadmill belt with a lifetime lubricant to reduce friction and power consumption, which extends the longevity of your machine. The special lubricant requires a break-in period, and the manufacturer advises you to use only low inclinations during the first 20 hours of operation.
Folding the Proform Pro 2000 Treadmill
ProForm uses a SpaceSaver design with an EasyLift Assist, which means that the treadmill folds vertically by employing hydraulic technology.
Note, however, that the treadmill is solidly built and as such is a fairly heavy piece of equipment, at 358 lbs. As such, the manufacturer states that you have to be able to lift 45 lbs in order to raise, lower or move the machine. You will find further instructions on how to fold your treadmill in the manual.
The ProForm Pro 2000 treadmill has an oversized 7” screen, which displays easy- to-read white characters on a backlit blue-colored background. Because of the large size screen, you can see your workout stats from any level – showing time, heart rate, speed, incline, mileage, and calories burned.
You find the controls, such as the incremental speed and tilt control, oriented on the right and left-hand side of the bottom part of the console. The buttons are adjacent to the start, stop and the cool down button. Additionally, you find Quick-Speed and Quick-Incline control buttons either side on the console, allowing you to jump instantly to any full- number speed or incline while you are exercising.
Be aware that a magazine on the reading shelf might block secondary controls. Fortunately, it won’t block the speed and incline controls.
There are two water bottle holders.
The ProForm Pro 2000 has a full front hand rail and a partial side hand rail, which provides both security and easy access.
What makes the Pro 2000 treadmill unique in its class of folding models is its iFit compatibility. The iFit mode enables your treadmill to communicate with your wireless network.
This feature is optional and requires you to purchase an iFit monitor, which you attach to the Pro 2000 console.
The upgrade allows you to gain access to an almost limitless workout library; you can download additional workout programs or create your own.
Another enjoyable feature included in the iFit Live mode is that it allows you to race against another user in real time. Additionally, if you feel creative, you can design your own running route. For instance, you might want to explore the world and decide to run in Barcelona or Cape Town; you would draw your running path with the help of Google Maps and iFit will map out your workout and send it to your treadmill. That way, you get a real feel of a full terrain race training in the comfort of your home.
To use an iFit Live workout, you must have an iFit Live module, which you can buy at the iFit.com website. You will need access to a computer with a USB port in addition to a wireless internet connection including an 802.11b router which is SSID broadcast enabled. You will also require an iFit membership.
Without the iFit subscription, you have the choice of 24 onboard workout programs, which can be personalized.
There are six high-intensity programs with combined incline and speed modifications, six fat burn calorie workouts, six speed workouts, and six incline workouts.
This extensive choice of programs including the 15% incline and 3% decline plus speeds of up to 12mph will support your training needs at any level.
If you decide to upgrade to an iFit Live module, you will have many more workout options at your disposal.
Note, however, that there are no heart rate control programs.
The ProForm Pro 2000 has two 3- inch Intermix Acoustic speakers with excellent fidelity which allows you, if you wish, to turn up the volume and therefore your tempo. Apparently, the tune’s tempo influences our running speed so that we match our tempo with that of the music’s tempo.
If you prefer to listen to your favorite tunes or audiobooks while you are working out, you simply connect your iPod or MP3 player to the audio jack on the console.
The machine has two built-in fans on either side of the console. With a click of a button, you can change the fans’ speed settings, allowing you to have a comfortable indoor workout with climate control, which helps to extend your training session.
There is an accessory tray underneath the console, which keeps all your necessities such as your phone, tablet, training tools and keys within reach.
Heart Rate Monitoring
The dual-grip- heart-rate monitor and the included wireless chest strap serve as an excellent tool to monitor your fitness progress.
The two hand-grip sensors are built into the handlebars, allowing for a one-off heart rate reading.
Note that to obtain the most accurate reading, you should hold on to the handlebars for about 15 seconds.
The machine’s footprint is 80”x63”x39.5”. As noted above, it is heavy. Although the treadmill has wheels to move it, it is a good idea to decide where you want to use it before unpacking and assembling it.
The manual describes the assembly steps using diagrams and for your benefit, it is important to read through the steps before you begin. Assembly will require two people and it may take you up to 3 hours to connect all the parts.
All bolts, nuts, and screws are included; you need an adjustable wrench and a Philips screwdriver.

The ProForm Pro 2000 is, without a doubt, an excellent machine that offers great features for trainees at all levels at a very good price.
The model received a best buy reward from ConsumerReports.org. In particular, it scored excellent for ergonomics as well as onboard exercise range. This means that the user needs such as belt size, foot-rail design, and hand-rail design are met at a high standard. Also, the onboard workout range was found to provide an effective training range for various fitness levels of trainees.
Additionally, the model scored very highly in the construction, ease of use and safety category.
Where this treadmill falls short is the thickness of the belt, which is only 1-ply. The tread belt longevity is largely influenced by the belt thickness, the size of the rollers and the lubrication. Another minor drawback is that there are no dedicated heart rate programs.
Overall, this treadmill is an absolute star in its class when it comes to value for money. The machine is an excellent choice for runners who like to be entertained while working out, and with the iFit compatibility together with the incline and decline option, you can simulate a myriad of international outdoor running conditions.
